As you enter the kitchen, you will enjoy the uninterrupted expanses of glass along the back wall which features wonderful views of the fabulous outside entertaining areas complete with walls of metal and stone. To achieve this, the walls of the kitchen needed to be moved to allow for an almost twice as large floor plan as well as a direct view from the entry to the back patio where this gorgeous view was once obstructed.

The powder bath is a work of art. When walking into the powder bath, immediately your eyes will be drawn to the unique textures and high ceilings. The bold textures, creative use of paneling and lighting detail would not be complete without the dark and sleek plumbing fixtures provided for this cool and contemporary space.

The double doors create a grand entrance to this luxurious suite. The soffit design provides an elegant detail to this bath which not only houses the amazing glass chandelier, but it also repeats other shapes found throughout the bath. With the use of etched and clear glass in the fixed window, circles create a complimentary design to the soffit details; here the homeowners can enjoy the warm sun with almost complete privacy. This bath is a couple’s very own personal retreat.

The lower level powder bath is a unique blend of materials and lighting. As you open the door to the powder bath the tiled accent wall will spark your curiosity in the details. The first specialty detail is the custom designed mirror that was created to emphasize the shape and design of the lavatory provided. This bath complements the lower level’s fun and exciting design.

Sustainable Cliffside Living
When we were brought into the project the architect had designed the kitchen with an island and a separate eating area. One of the client’s desires was not to have a separate eating area, but incorporate the eating area within the area of food preparation. This caused some difficulty because of the home’s structural columns could not be moved or relocated and the given space was long and skinny. To accomplish this we created separate preparation area and varied elevations for food to be displayed while using different materials to designate dinning and preparation.  This provided us a place to integrate the owner’s craving for color and contemporary styling by using glass, granite and Caesarstone.

Flawless Lake Front
This 1960’s contemporary split level home with a remarkable lake front view needed a transformation functionally and visually. The clients’ top priorities were taking advantage of the views and creating better use of their space on hand. The original floor plan was disconnected in function and aesthetics. To resolve these issues walls were removed to create an open plan that allowed flow and focus while not losing sight of updating the overall look. The kitchen was in the corner with a peninsula that put your back to the lake. In order to create a desirable solution the kitchen was moved toward the lake with a curved island that seats six so all get a view. To unify the adjacent spaces, materials were selected to eliminate the disarray, Jarrah wood flooring from Australia, cherry wood used for cabinets and millwork and travertine stone slabs on the fireplace created harmony.

Jaque Bethke, an award winning designer with PURE Design Environments, is a Midwest born interior designer, whose unique aesthetics engage seamlessly with her keen eye to make every space livable through the use of well-placed, unconventional objects.

Drawing on her time as a student at the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture, together with her engineering background, allows Jaque to draw inspiration from the world around her and transform designs into unique “one of a kind spaces.” A follower of Mies Van der Rohe and Neutra, Jaque tries to imagine what they might have done with the site, the client, and the materials. “The ability of these great artists to create the right balance of clean lines, coupled with a material palette of warmth, made their work perfection,” Jaque explains. “Like the masters, I am passionate about design and excited by good design.”

Good design gives people a special sense of place, of self and of the present. It should heighten one’s sense of humor, serenity, mystery, and comfort. With the emergence of increased globalization, technology has produced even more dramatic and cinematic concepts in design and architecture with regards to scale and fantasy. To be successful in this field, Jaque believes you must be a born collaborator. Combining architecture and design allow Jaque to create unique atmospheres that exemplify her point-of-view, while leaving the undeniable imprint on each of her clients and influences.
